Sidebars! and support forum?

We did it! We got the sidebar editor plugin working correctly. Who knew it had a special install procedure? Usually you dump the plugin in the right directory and it works. Not this one! Lessons learned all around. Don’t you love learning?

Anyway, if you had the plugin activated, might as well de-activate it and reactivate it again. Then go to Themes-> Sidebar Editor. Click on Initialize to start. It will pop up with a warning, but since you haven’t entered anything yet, feel free to click okay.

The grey boxes on the right can be moved aroudn by dragging and dropping. To expand them,there’s an “invisible” button on the right side. Just hover over with your mouse until you see it go from crosshairs to the pointy hand, then click.

To add custom content to your sidebar (like a webring, ad code, whatever) click the “Add custom field” button. It will show up on the bottom of the list of grey boxes. Click the right side of it to expand.

Choose “edit” and a text box will show up on your left. Add what you like, change the tile. Be sure to click on the “Admit” button when you are done. THEN click on update.

Some themes might look a little wonky (stray dots for example) so let me know if that happens.

Also? Once implemented, you can even change your theme and your custom sidebar content will go with you.

I spoke too soon

I need to do some heavy work with the Flickr plugin.

EDIT: Aha! Easier than I thought. One minor line edit and she works.
